MSSc Work-Based Learning (Health & Safety)

This part-time course is offered in Partnership with Queen’s University and is delivered at the main Belfast Campus.

The course enables graduates (or candidates with relevant professional experience) to develop and apply relevant Health and Safety skills and knowledge in work-based contexts.

Successful completion of the Post Graduate element of the programme will satisfy the Graduate Membership requirements for Membership of IOSH.

Course description

NVQ Occupational Health and Safety Practice

Professional qualifications at Levels 5 in Health and Safety Practice leading to graduate membership of IOSH.

Delegates are assessed on real life work scenarios against national performance standards.

National General Certificate, NEBOSH

This course is ideal for newly appointed Safety Officers, Safety Representatives or those from other disciplines who have the responsibility for Health, Safety and Welfare of others.

The programme is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in Occupational Safety and Health.

The course runs for 13 consecutive Mondays plus one day of examinations.

Construction Certificate, NEBOSH

This course is ideal for newly appointed Safety Officers, Safety Representatives, CDM Co-ordinators or those from other disciplines who have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of others within the construction sector.

The course runs for 14 consecutive Mondays plus one day of examinations.

A 4 day bridging course is available for holders of the National General Certificate (within the previous 5 years) wishing to add the National Construction Certificate to their professional development.

P402 Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos, BOHS

This course will provide the background and practical knowledge required by those involved in or responsible for asbestos surveying of buildings and general guidance on management procedures necessary to minimise the risk of exposure to any identified asbestos containing materials.

P402 Refresher, BOHS

This training module is aimed at those asbestos surveyors and commissioners of asbestos surveys already holding P402 certificates.

The programme is designed to update knowledge following the publication of the HSE guidance document HSG264 Asbestos: The Surveyors’ Guide which has replaced the former guidance MDHS100.
